Utilization of low-potential heat from the cooling water of the main engines to increase the energy efficiency of the vessel

Abstract

Currently, one of the ways to assess the reduction of emissions from marine vessels is the energy efficiency index. Its value is influenced to varying degrees by conventional, efficient and innovative technologies. The category of innovative technologies includes generators based on the organic Rankine cycle. As calculations show, their capacity may be small compared to the total capacity of the ship's power plant, but have a significant reduction in environmental charges in a number of ports.
