Threads of destiny: the art of Chiharu Shiota, Wade Kawano and Olafur Eliasson
Abstract
This article discusses how the art of Chiharu Shiota, Wade Kawano, and Olafur Eliasson explores the works of contemporary artists who reflect deep human experiences such as memory, connection, and existence through spatial metaphors. It focuses on installations created by Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota, the duo of Wade Kawano and Stephen Nguyen, and Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson. Shiotauses bright red yarn to create labyrinths of memory and symbolize invisible connections between people, while Kavanaugh and Nguyen explore human interaction with natureand technology through live installations. Eliasson, on the other hand, draws attention to light and nature, creating sensory experiences that remind viewers of their place in the universe. All of these works share an exploratory nature that seeks to make sense of human experience and interconnections, emphasizing the fragility of fate and the complexity of human emotions.
